Make Ten Puzzle
About This Game
Draw a rectangle around numbers that add up to ten. Clear colorful toy tiles from a 10 × 8 board and see how much space you can make, without a timer or move limit.
How to Play
- Drag from one cell to the opposite corner. Every number inside the rectangle counts once; empty cells count as zero.
- Make exactly 10 with at least two numbers, then release. Invalid selections leave the board unchanged.
- Cleared spaces stay empty. Other numbers never move, fall, merge or refill.
- Earn 10 points for two numbers, plus 5 for each extra number cleared together. Empty spaces never increase your score.
- Each run starts with 3 hints. A hint outlines a legal rectangle without clearing it. Undo restores the last clear, without refunding used hints. Restart gives you a fresh board and 3 hints.
- When no legal rectangle remains, Congratulations! celebrates your run and shows your results. You can undo the last clear or play again.
Controls
Press and drag on the board, then release to submit. Release outside to cancel. Keyboard: focus the board, move with arrow keys, press Enter or Space for the first corner, move and press again for the second. Escape cancels.
Drag with one finger to frame a rectangle. The live sum tells you when it reaches 10. Scrolling is disabled only on the number board. Pause, hints and undo are inside the game.
Tips & Strategies
- Look beyond pairs: 2 + 3 + 5 and 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 earn extra points.
- Empty spaces can bridge distant numbers later in the run. Check every number inside your rectangle.
- Think about what you leave behind. Use Undo to reconsider the last clear, and save your three hints for a difficult position.
FAQ
- What makes a legal selection?
- An axis-aligned rectangle with at least two remaining number tiles and a total of exactly 10. All numbers inside count; gaps contribute zero.
- How many hints do I get?
- Three per run. Each displayed hint spends one. Reloading and Undo do not return used hints. Restart creates a new board with three hints.
- Do numbers fall or refill?
- No. All 80 starting numbers keep their original positions until you clear them. Cleared spaces stay empty.
- What does Congratulations mean?
- Your run is complete because no legal rectangle remains. It celebrates your score and the numbers you cleared; it does not mean every tile was cleared. Undo can reopen the last move.
- Can I continue later?
- The board, score, remaining hints, last undo, best records and sound preference are saved in this browser. If storage is unavailable, the game remains playable in the current tab.
